Singapore is a fascinating country. The first thing I noticed was that each building is constructed in a way where it’s obvious they have put a lot of thought behind each design. It is very much like a “city in a garden” which is their goal to become.

We landed at Changi airport which is regularly voted best airport in the world. It’s a fantastic airport I hope other countries will learn from! We got in a taxi and went on our way to Sentosa. It’s a stunning drive with so many green and lush plants, flowers and trees!

Singapore Coast To Coast

To drive from coast to coast in Singapore, it takes about 30-45 minutes. You might be a little surprised to see how small the island is. To put this in perspective if you have ever been to the state of Texas, you can drive from east to west for 12 hours straight, and still be in the same state!

Singapore Flyer

If you’re only in town for a short time, I would recommend you try the Singapore Flyer. At its highest, the flyer is 165 meters above ground. You’ll be able to get a great view of the city. Each capsule can hold about 30 people, and the Singapore Flyer has about 30 of these capsules all around it.

A ride on the Singapore Flyer is around $30, and the ride is about 20-30 minutes. I think it’s totally worth it because of the beautiful view of the city, especially of the skyline. The picture above is from inside the Singapore Flyer and here is a video:

Supertrees

Parts of Singapore is almost like a city out of a science fiction movie. The supreme court even looks like a UFO! You can check out to the Supertrees at night time, and you’ll definitely feel like you’re in a science fiction movie! It’s an impressive garden with some unique trees and lighting. The Supertrees are within walking distance from the Singapore Flyer.

Marina Bay

If you go to the Singapore Flyer in the late afternoon, you can see it during the day, and in the evening you can go to Marina Bay to view the skyline at night (it looks very different at night). Here is a picture of the popular Singapore icon The Merlion with the famous building Marina Bay Sands in the background. Marina Bay Sands is a Hotel, Shopping Mall, and Casino. The flower looking structure on the bottom left is the ArtScience museum.

Helix Bridge At Marina Bay

Here is a video taken from the Helix Bridge at Marina Bay. It’s a very unique structure and you can get some great pictures from the viewpoints.

If you’re only in Singapore for just a short time, I would recommend visiting Orchard Road (shopping) during the day, then go over to Marina Bay in afternoon where the Singapore Flyer, Marina Bay Sands, Helix Bridge, Merlion, Supertrees at Gardens by the Bay are located. There is also a free Light Show at Marina Bay Sands that starts around 8 PM that is worth going to:

Level 33

To finish off the night, you can have a drink at Level 33 which has a beautiful view of Marina Bay. Level 33 is located in the Marina Bay Financial Centre Tower. You’ll then get a view of Marina Bay from the Singapore Flyer and from the opposite side of the bay where Level 33 is located.

Night Safari

If you’re in town longer, Night Safari is absolutely worth visiting. Every person I know who has been to Night Safari tell me how much they enjoyed it.

I was the most impressed with how close we could get to the animals. It’s also the first zoo I’ve been to where the animals looked like they were enjoying themselves! Great job Night Safari!
